Right-wing men's obsession

Fantasies of violently putting women "back in their place" are disturbing; they are also a core part of right-wing, authoritarian ideology.

Violence against women has always been a political issue.

Today, as Americans cast their vote in a general election between a candidate who enabled the loss of bodily autonomy to millions and a candidate who has vowed to restore it, this felt truer than ever.

But the threat to women and those with feminized bodies goes beyond a singular front. To use Andrea Dworkin’s apt expression, “cunt-hating” is foundational to right-wing white male supremacist ideology. So much so, that the ideologues tell on themselves constantly, loudly, repeatedly. Unapologetically.

The hatred announces itself blaringly through violence and its threat — not only to maintain an order of man at the top, but because so many find immense joy in this sport. As they flaunt their hunt, they draw a vision of a future-world that harkens back to the fantasies of a past-world that never was. A painting of a woman being dragged by her hair. And they love it. They get off on it.

This election season, we have seen untold amounts of cunt-hating. It is everywhere. Trump, Vance, Carlson and so many more. Like all sadistic perpetrators, they like to tell on themselves.

I am tired of weighing my words in the face of the depraved, of the dehumanizers. Regardless of the results, this is a rot that has yet to be uprooted. We must stay vigilant. We must keep up the fight.
